Counselling & Psychotherapy
To many people, psychotherapy sounds more serious than counselling. Although it is true that counsellors and psychotherapists may be represented by different professional bodies, there is no real distinction between effective psychotherapy and effective counselling.
Effective psychotherapy & counselling
- Will not encourage you to dwell on the past excessively
- Will help you to understand your past and find ways to leave behind the negatives
- Offers hope, inspiration and practical strategies for improving your situation now and in future
- Offers immediate ways to feel better as well as encouraging you to measure and amplify improvements as you progress
- Will not confuse you with incomprehensible jargon
- Can make sense and then more sense of your life
- Will answer any reasonable questions you may have about procedures
- Helps you to be more effective in everyday living
- Does not take a long time
At The Brief Therapy Centre we believe that therapy has to be geared to the individual and should never be a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Hence we like to get to know you as a person and work with you to help your particular needs in ways that are acceptable to you. We base our work on the Human Givens approach, a way of approaching therapy that avoids ideology and brings together the best practice currently available in brief therapy
